About This Tool
Edit PDF provides high-fidelity in-place text and image editing powered by WebAssembly PDFium engine. Click directly into existing paragraphs to edit text just like a word processor, with automatic line re-wrapping and reflow.
Fine-tune your layout using the property inspector dock (font size, color, line height, alignment), replace or flip images, or batch find and replace text across the entire document. Switch to Classic Annotation mode anytime if you need freehand drawing, stamps, or form signatures.
All edits run strictly client-side inside your browser, guaranteeing 100% privacy and security for your files.
For the cleanest edits, click directly into the paragraph you want to change and keep replacements close to the original length so the surrounding layout does not shift much. Use find and replace for names or dates that appear many times rather than editing each one by hand. When you only need to mark up a document, such as highlighting or adding notes for a reviewer, switch to annotation mode instead of changing the underlying text.
The documents people edit most are often the ones they least want to share: contracts with negotiated terms, invoices, resumes with home addresses. TokPDF runs its PDF engine as WebAssembly inside your browser, so every keystroke and change happens on your own machine. Nothing is sent to a server for rendering, edits appear without network delay, and you can work from any computer with a modern browser and no installed software.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I directly edit existing text in the PDF?
Yes! The editor features direct content editing. Simply click any existing text block or paragraph to type, delete, and reformat with live reflow.
Can I still add annotations, stamps, and signatures?
Yes! Use the mode switch toggle in the header anytime to switch to Classic Annotation mode for stamps, freehand drawing, and forms.
Are my files kept private and secure?
Absolutely. All PDF decoding, text clustering, re-wrapping, and stream splicing run entirely in your local browser through WebAssembly.
How do I edit a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?
Open TokPDF's Edit PDF tool in your browser and load the file. You can click into existing text to change it, replace images, and add annotations, then download the edited PDF. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
A scanned PDF contains pictures of text rather than real text, so there is nothing to click into and edit. Run the file through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, or use annotation tools to place new text boxes over the scanned page.
Will the font match when I edit text?
The editor tries to reuse the font embedded in the PDF. Some PDFs only embed the characters that were originally used, so newly typed letters may fall back to a similar font. Check edited lines carefully and adjust the font in the property panel if needed.
Can I fill out a PDF form with this editor?
Yes, you can type into a form by placing text where needed in annotation mode. For PDFs that contain real interactive form fields, a dedicated form filling tool gives a cleaner result, since it writes directly into the existing fields.
